Tell us a little bit about your organization.

For 55 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands (BGCM) has provided at-risk metro area youth with the support they need to reach their full potential as productive, healthy and caring members of society. BGCM serves 2,000 children and teens each and every day at our 11 Clubs throughout Omaha, Council Bluffs and Carter Lake. We provide a safe environment that keeps youth engaged, active and happy in the hours after school, during vacation periods and throughout the summer months. Club members receive impactful programming that supports Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character & Citizenship.

What’s the most exciting thing happening right now with your organization?

Right now is a really exciting time for BGCM! Throughout the next two years we will start to serve an additional 800 youth each day in the areas of North, South, Central and West Omaha at four brand new Clubs. This fall, our doors will open at the new Florence and Millard Central Boys & Girls Clubs. In the fall of 2019, a Club will open at Bryan Middle School and Westbrook Elementary (District 66), which will replace the current Club on the North end of the school.

There are a bunch of fun events coming up for Boys & Girls Club of the Midlands. Head to https://bgcomaha.org/events-list/ for more information.

How can supporters get involved with your organization?

Volunteers make a tremendous difference in the lives of youth and are vital to the success of our Club programs. To become a volunteer, inquire about training, requirements and upcoming opportunities, please contact Kristen Ogea, Volunteer Coordinator, at kogea@bgcomaha.org. Other ways to get involved include attending or donating to our events, joining our Family Guild, Southwest Iowa Board of Trustees or lending your expertise by serving on a Board Committee.  Please follow us on Facebook as this is the easiest way to stay up to date on the latest Club happenings!

Why should people consider TAGGing for you? How does your organization promote/use TAGG?

As we open two new Clubs this year, your support is needed now more than ever to sustain quality, safe after-school locations for the youth in our community. Through your support we are able to enrich the lives of thousands of youth and every time you TAGG for BGCM, you are helping us transform the lives of our Club members. Together, we can connect thousands of underserved youth with hope and opportunities. We encourage our staff, Board of Directors, Family Guild and the community to TAGG for BGCM when they are dining and shopping at participating TAGG businesses. It’s that easy to make a difference! Join us in investing in the youth of our community!
